Portland Indian Food Recommendations
Update: Second visit to VANAKKAM PDX 🔄 Pics 5-7 from the second visit: The lamb curry 🐑 is super rich and has a bold flavor— the lamb is incredibly tender! Only downside: the rice portion is way too small 😅. The desserts weren’t my thing (they tasted a bit weird 🤔), but the chicken curry is still so good!! 👍 Honestly, Indian food is really tasty— especially when it’s authentic! 😋 Tonight, I originally wanted to try a new Korean fried chicken spot (it closes at 12, but had already stopped taking orders by 8-ish 😫). So I ended up going near Bethany to try an Indian restaurant instead. Here are two spots I think are amazing: 1. VANAKKAM PDX I usually order masala and biriyani here. Pic 1: Chicken Masala ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — Total game-changer! It’s silky smooth and so fragrant, absolutely delicious 😍. The white rice was just okay though (the rice quality wasn’t great). The naan is also yummy! The lychee-flavored dessert tasted a bit weird to me, so I didn’t love it 🤷♀️. Pic 2: Goat Biriyani ⭐⭐⭐⭐ — The goat meat is tender, huge chunks, and there’s so much of it! 🥳 Plus, this place is cheaper than other Indian spots around, and they even give a few fried chicken pieces (which were good too)! Super satisfying 😌. 2. Sultan The Flaming Tandoor I mentioned this one before (#EastMeetsWestDeliciousness 🍛). Pic 3: Forgot the name, but it’s chickpeas with lots of toppings— like an Indian salad! ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tastes great. Pic 4: Their mango masala is amazing! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Lamb Biriyani ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ — Sultan’s rice is the best! No other spot does rice as well as they do. Also, their garlic naan is so fragrant 🤤. I’ve been to a few other Indian places too. The only one I remember is Hello India— their crispy eggplant is really good, but the other dishes there weren’t as impressive 😐. #ExperienceExoticFoodTogether #FoodKnowsNoBorders #UnforgettableFoodMoments #IrresistibleExoticFlavors #FoodMakesMyWeekend #Portland #PortlandFood #Beaverton #BeavertonFood
