Portland Restaurant Hunt: Hachi 🍣
Portland has added many new popular Japanese restaurants in recent years, and Hachi in Downtown is one of them. We’ve dined here a few times—great flavor at a reasonable price, definitely worth recommending! Sukiyaki Hot Pot (4/5): A small sukiyaki pot, only enough for 1-2 people. The taste is quite authentic 🥘. Japanese Style Fried Chicken (4/5): Crispy outside, tender inside. Tastes even better with Spicy Mayo 🍗. Toba Wing (5/5): Grilled chicken wings—the best item on the yakitori menu, with a charcoal aroma 🔥. Tsukune (4/5): Super juicy pork meatballs, similar to sweet-flavored lion’s head meatballs or steamed pork with soda. Served with onsen tamago, but it’s not my personal favorite 🥢. Fried Oyster (3.5/5): Fried oysters, a limited-time seafood yakitori item. The taste is average 🦪. Fried Cod (4.5/5): Fried cod, also a limited-time seafood yakitori item. Crispy skin and tender flesh—delicious 🐟. Grilled Squid (2.5/5): A letdown for me, tasted a bit fishy 🦑. Takoyaki (3/5): Regular octopus balls, no special features 🥟. Hachi Salad (4.5/5): I don’t like salads usually, but this surprised me (maybe because it has fried chicken 🥬). Salmon Loves Lemon (4/5): Salmon sushi with lemon slices—the fish is super fresh 🍋. Honey Toast (3.5/5): A popular dessert—vanilla ice cream with toast. Fancy presentation, tasty at first, but the honey-soaked toast gets too sweet later 🍯. Overall, this popular downtown izakaya offers good value for money. Address: 580 SW 12th Ave, Portland, OR 97205 #Portland #PortlandFood #PortlandEats #OregonFood #OregonEats
