DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES! I went in yesterday afternoon with my boyfriend who is allergic to avocado. Placed our order for a couple rolls and asked for no avocado in anything that comes with avocado because he is allergic. We get our rolls and there is avocado in them, which I get, people make mistakes, this isn't the first time that has happened. Asked if they can remake without avocado stressing that he is ALLERGIC and if he ate it, he would have a reaction. We wait and they bring out the "remade" roll. I can already see a small piece of avocado just on the side of the roll on the plate, I thought maybe it was just a little piece that somehow made its way on the dish. I look at the roll and some of the pieces still had avocado in it while others had the residue of it that you could clearly see because there were hole in the roll from where they just pushed out the avocado. If they could not make this roll without avocado I wish they would have said that. We have been to other restaurants that have been honest in suggesting we just order something else to avoid any allergy issues which I completely understand. It is very irresponsible to not take someones food allergies seriously. How can anyone think it would be okay to just push out the ingredient and still leave some behind. The server took a look at it and he too saw that it still had avocado in it. Someone else came over and asked if we had eaten any of it, I told them I was lucky to have thought to inspect it a 2nd time before eating just in case so no he did not eat any of it. They just carried on like nothing. THEY DO NOT LISTEN, DON'T TAKE FOOD ALLERGIES SERIOUS AND THIS COULD HAVE ENDED BADLY HAD WE NOT BEEN...
Read moreA beautiful newly opened izakaya nestled a few blocks from Powells’s Bookstore and Pioneer Square this sister location to Ramen Ryoma will certainly become a staple for my partner and I when we want some good, quick eats. The atmosphere gives off a warm and welcoming vibe that we appreciated on this particular snowy day. There is a variety of seating ranging from booths, tables, a cute little private nook and the sushi bar. The restaurant boasts an open concept kitchen where you can watch the cooks prepare orders or watch the sushi chefs create rolls.
We decided to take our time and pace ourselves rather than order everything at once, each dish proving to be as good as the last if not better. We ordered a variety of different skewers, appetizers, sushi rolls, and shared a dessert that we agreed was worth coming back for alone. For the pricing, you can find no better offerings unless you are lucky enough to be in the vicinity of a food truck and even then the service we received was the true icing in the cake. If you love japanese cuisine and a place that actually stays open past 9 this is a must try place.
My partner ordered the following: Salmon Roll California Roll Chicken Katsu Umeshiso Yaki Yakitori w/ Citron Pepper Side of Rice
I ordered the following: California Roll Agedashi Tofu Grilled Shrimp w/ tartar Tsukine w/ poached egg Sukiyaki hotpot
We both shared the Honey Toast, it was amazing plz get it you won’t be...

It's "Izakaya" - so more of a casual pub atmosphere with small plates. One really nice thing about their menu is that most items allow you to choose how many of that item you want. So you can come here as just a 2-top and try a bunch of different stuff without ordering way too much food. We had the lava salmon and jalapeño yellowtail carpaccios, (both refreshing) otoro nigiri, (tender) salmon sashimi (served on shaved ice - cool and perfect) chicken karaage (made with juicy dark meat - yay!) wagyu yakitori (like buttah!) and skirt steak a la carte (so flavorful and tender) We also had a 375ml bottle of good sake, and we got the honey toast dessert which was the perfect punctuation at the end. All of this came to just slightly over $100. I was blown away. I'm used to spending twice that much for that amount of food. Absolutely delightful. The cheerful greeting and valediction that every customer gets is just the icing on the cake. It creates a light-hearted, celebratory atmosphere that makes you feel welcome and appreciated. Can't...
