Poton Restaurant visit | Another Thai meal in Thonglor
đ¶ïž Thonglor: Brightonâs Thai SpotâSolid Hits, but No âWowâ This Brighton restaurant has its moments, but itâs not going to dethrone my favorite Thai spots. The standout dishes are worth ordering, but a few classics fall flatâmaking it a âmehâ overall. đ The Winners Tom Yum Morfai: đČ Bostonâs best tom yum (in my book). Itâs bright, spicy, and tangyâno creamy coconut here, just a clear, aromatic broth packed with mussels, shrimp, and squid. Fresh, flavorful, and satisfyingâthough still not quite as good as the versions I had in Seattle or Phoenix (those set the bar high). Crying Tiger: đ„© (No photo, but trust me.) A previous order that surprised me: tender, grilled beef with a zesty, spicy sauce. Itâs bold, well-seasoned, and worth adding to your list. Pandan Cocktail: đč Unique and layered, with a lingering pandan flavor thatâs weirdly nostalgic (reminded me of childhood cough syrupâin a good way). Ask for the âpandan cocktailââtheyâll know what you mean. đ The âMehâ (Skip These) Pad See Ew: đ A Thai staple, but here itâs blandânoodles are overcooked, and the soy sauce flavor is muted. Green Papaya Salad: đ„ Not bad, but not memorable. Itâs crunchy and spicy, but lacks that âfresh, vibrantâ kick that makes great som tam. Mango Sticky Rice: đ Disappointing. The rice is clumpy, the mango is underripe, and the coconut sauce is too thin. đ The Fusion Pick 3 Flavor Fish: đ A fun twistâfish is diced, fried, then tossed in a sweet-sour-spicy sauce. Itâs ć „ćł (flavorful all the way through) and less messy than whole fried fish, but itâs more âfusionâ than traditional Thai. Budget Score: 3.5/5. Hits are worth the price, but misses feel like a waste. Thonglor isnât a must-visit, but if youâre in Brighton and craving tom yum or Crying Tiger, itâll do. Just skip the classicsâtheyâre better elsewhere. đ Thonglor 559 Washington St, Brighton, MA 02135 #BostonThai #BrightonEats #ThaiFoodLovers
