THE WAIT: we walked in around 7:30pm on a Saturday, not too bad, just a 15 minute wait for the first seating, which was available at the bar. They do take reservations though through Google maps so do that!
ATMOSPHERE: cute decor, very lovely, comfy chairs, nice dishes. I loved how the bar menu was presented! Didn’t get any but I heard their cocktails were great and unique. Chairs and tables might be just a little tight if you’re sitting In the middle of the restaurant
FOOD: Crying tiger: tender rib eyeeee and a big portion at that! Super yummy, Just sad we didn’t get more sauce with it. The sticky rice that came with it, leave it in the Saran Wrap until youre ready to eat it otherwise it dries out (noob) pricier at $30 now. Papaya salad: this was fine! Light refreshing papaya salad. Wish it was a little tangier? Or stronger in flavor? But warm tender pieces of shrimp. Yum yum. Beef Panang curry: this was good dish, will probably not order it again but just a solid curry dish that I’ve had before. The beef was a bit tough, but also probably because I compared it with the crying tiger ribeye I just ate hehe. Kung pa: (I might have remembered the name wrong) but this was the weekend special written on the chalk board, southern style yellow curry with lump crab meat and vermicelli. This was soooo good! Genuine small but many pieces of fresh crab, flavorful, with a great bite of spice to it. We mixed it with the vermicelli and bean sprouts cabbage add on. Nom nom nommmm worth it for the $20! Cries In Mango sticky rice, they ran out so we couldn’t try it :(
PARKING: there’s free street parking right in front and around the block.
Willll be back and can’t wait...
Read moreWent as a small group with a reservation for dinner at 6 pm. It was packed full when we walked in so we ended up waiting a few minutes for a table. That was immediately made up for by the inviting, romantic, and hip atmosphere of the place. It's about a 30 minute walk from Boston College campus and the atmosphere shows this in a clean way.
After we were seated I ordered spring rolls for the table. My wife ordered the Panang Nuer, which is a rich beef curry. She said it was good, the beef had a couple chewier slices, but the portions were enormous so it balances out. I ordered the Ga Pao Gai, ground chicken with spicy basil sauce. I think I'm not the biggest fan of ground chicken generally, but I wanted to try. The sauce was great and the spice was perfect, it hit you but didn't make you need an entire itcher of water. I also ordered their Kad Pad Ga Pow, chicken fried rice, which was extremely delicious. Lastly, my friend ordered Keaw Wan Gai, Thai chicken Curry and he finished his bowl with a smile.
To finish off light, we ordered thai ice teas to sip and cool off the lingering spice. All in all the food was great for the price while the location, atmosphere, speed of service, etc. are hard to match around the area. This was a great first experience of Thai cuisine for me and I look forward to...

During my recent visit for dinner, I began with Curry Puffs, which arrived hot and crispy from the fryer. They were mainly filled with curry potatoes, offering less chicken than expected. It was a bit of a letdown, but still enjoyable appetizers nonetheless.
The Pad Thai was a delightful surprise. Although its flavor profile leaned more towards sweet rather than the traditional tang, the dish still managed to stand out. The noodles were cooked to perfection and were impressively chewy.
The star of the meal, however, was the Khao Pad Tomyum, a bold, fiery, and flavorful rendition of Tomyum fried rice. It was a perfectly balanced symphony of spice, sweetness, and the aromatic trinity of Thai basil, lemongrass, and Keffir leaves. The dish unfolded a rich umami aftertaste that left a lasting impression. The initial few bites didn’t take my breath away, but as I delved deeper into the dish, each mouthful became increasingly satisfying.
Overall, Thonglor lived up to its reputation as one of the top five Thai spots in the city. Would definitely come back to try more of...
