If you're familiar with the personal characteristics of these masters, you'll easily recognize their works. 🏆 Gallery Highlight: Portrait of Pope Innocent X by Velázquez ➡️ Content Description: This painting is regarded as one of the greatest portraits in art history. The artist captures both the pope's authority and the spiritual frailty of this 76-year-old man—while the pope's face reflects strength, his hands resting on the chair appear weak and powerless. The oil painting technique in this work is exceptional. The fiery red drapery conveys a unique sense of religious solemnity; the white vestments and red cape create a striking color contrast. When this portrait was presented to the pope, he reportedly exclaimed with surprise and discomfort, “It looks too much like me.” This illustrates the painting's remarkable realism and fidelity. ➡️ Artist's Status: Velázquez treated all subjects equally, whether commoners or nobles; he could "paint them as they are."
