Quebec, Canada 🇨🇦 Must-Try Restaurants & Local Specialties

Welcome to my Quebec travel guide – Food Edition! 😝 We spent 4 days and 3 nights in Quebec City and tried quite a few places, including desserts. Don’t want you to make the same mistakes I did! 🍳 Restaurants 1⃣️ Cochon Dingue Champlain 🐷 (The Crazy Pig) This "Pig Restaurant" has three locations in the old town. I booked the one on Petit-Champlain Street, right across from the famous red door 🌟 Must-try: Pork Ribs and Pot en Pot (seafood casserole) 🦞 Note: If you want brunch, book for 9 AM—by 11 AM, they switch to lunch. 2⃣️ La Buche 🐰 Unique decor but noisy, with cafeteria-style seating (only window seats are photo-worthy). Still, the food is delicious, generous, and affordable! 🌟 Must-try: Chicken & Waffles and Sweet Crepe 🍯 3⃣️ Aux Anciens Canadiens 🦌 A classic Quebecois restaurant with great ambiance 🥂, but the flavors didn’t quite win me over. The Poutine had a burnt taste, and the venison was too gamey (only my dad could stomach it). The steak and seafood were decent, though. 4⃣️ CICCIO CAFÉ Craving pasta? This place has many options—solid but not outstanding. 5⃣️ Gao Comptoir Vietnamien 🍜 The only highly-rated Asian restaurant in Quebec. The pho is 👍, but skip the rice dishes. A bowl of noodle soup hits the spot on rainy or cold days! 🍞 Bakeries & Breakfast Spots 6⃣️ Paillard A line of office workers = a sure sign it’s good! Their almond chocolate croissant 🥐 is divine. 7⃣️ La Boite a Pain Located outside the old town, we stopped by on our last day for breakfast and road snacks. 🌟 Must-try: Toubillon (swirl bread), Palmier (puff pastry), and Paris-Brest (cream puff). 🍦 Desserts 8⃣️ La Petite Cabane à Sucre de Québec A specialty dessert shop on Petit-Champlain Street. You have to try the maple ice cream and sugar pie! 9⃣️ Chocolato - Saint-Jean Great ice cream, but the real highlight was the staff—super friendly, letting us sample flavors before ordering. To future Quebec travelers: If you get a chance, please try Bistro St-Malo for me! It was fully booked (no walk-ins either 😭). Let me know if it’s worth the hype! #CanadaTravel #QuebecFood #QuebecCity
