🌵 Quick Day Trip: San Diego → Tijuana 🌵

While shopping in San Diego, I realized I could actually walk to Mexico—so I spontaneously visited the border city of Tijuana! 🚶‍♂️🇲🇽 At first, it was fun! I tried super authentic tacos 🌮 and churros on the street—truly delicious and local! 😋 I thought it would be a chill stroll, but as I went deeper into the old town area, the vibe started to change: The streets felt messy, with "wanted" posters on walls 🚨 I accidentally wandered into a deserted, abandoned commercial area 🏚️ While stopping to pet a cat 🐱, a kind local warned us: "It’s not safe here—leave now!" We immediately headed back quickly toward the border. On the way, the atmosphere grew tense—sidewalks filled with unhoused people, and Mayan women holding children asking for money. My heart ached, and honestly, I felt a little scared. 😥 We practically speed-walked all the way back to the U.S. side before finally feeling safe again. 🇺🇸🛂 📌 Quick Tips: 1️⃣ Tijuana’s street food is worth trying—but stick to busy areas. 2️⃣ Avoid empty or run-down streets. 3️⃣ If you’re just there for food, stay near the main tourist zone. #San Diego #Tijuana #MexicanFood #BorderCity #TravelDiary #TravelSafety
