Redefining the Boundary Between Life and Death ⚰️🌆
Hollywood's Vertical Cemetery Behind the hustle and bustle of Hollywood lies a peaceful, vibrant space—a place to honor the departed and a sanctuary for the living: Hollywood Forever Cemetery. 🌹✨ Here rest legendary figures like Judy Garland and Rudolph Valentino. And now, this historic ground is embracing a bold new vision to meet the challenges and opportunities of a modern city. Since opening in 1899, Hollywood Forever has transcended the traditional idea of a cemetery. It’s not just a final resting place—it’s a dynamic cultural hub. 🎬🎶 From outdoor movie screenings and music festivals to vibrant Día de los Muertos celebrations, the cemetery has become an open urban space that draws countless visitors. But as its “population” continues to grow, space has become scarce. To meet demand while preserving the site’s tranquility and dignity, Hollywood Forever embarked on an innovative project: Gower Court. Gower Court marks LA’s first high-rise cemetery structure. Designed by Lehrer Architects in collaboration with Arquitectura y Diseño, it’s not only an architectural breakthrough but a reimagining of what a cemetery can be. 🏗️💡 The structure accommodates 22,500 burial niches and 30,000 cremation urns. Its design maximizes space with open-air corridors, landscaped terraces, and tiered gardens—striking a delicate balance between solemnity, privacy, and open, inviting scenery. 🌿🌸 Have you visited Hollywood Forever?
