Restaurant Week Review — Korean BBQ AYCE 🥩
The restaurant is called Gogi (probably from 불고기’s 고기, I guess). Located on Bethel Road, opposite Dayou Supermarket, next to Refectory. Came around 6 PM — waited 10 minutes. Gets busier later. Usually AYCE anyway, but Restaurant Week is $5 cheaper and comes with an extra dish + dessert. But actually, Tue–Fri 4–6 PM happy hour (20% off) is a better deal! They serve two plates of kimchi — only the napa cabbage and radish were okay, the rest weren’t great. Ate them anyway because food took forever. Extra dish & dessert — we ordered seafood pancake, fried squid, mochi (choco pie was out). Seafood pancake was average, fried squid was crispy but not flavorful (used bland white squid). Mochi was terrible — the rice skin tasted stale. AYCE part — ordered two Cokes (canned, no refills 😠). Server was very pretty, covered in tattoos but super gentle — messed up our order three times, but she reminded me of Jennifer Lawrence ✨ We chose the middle tier AYCE ($35) — New York strip and ribeye were good. I like that they serve the steak as a whole slice — looks nice. King prawns always felt undercooked but were tender. Soon Hari soju was $21 a bottle — wow, Jenny indeed — didn’t dare order 😳 Their K-pop MV loop even played Lexie Liu’s “Pop Girl” — nice surprise! Biggest issue today: too crowded, understaffed — orders got very slow later on. But they didn’t enforce a time limit, so… mutual time-wasting, I guess 😅 My favorite thing here was actually soon tofu (spicy tofu soup) — drank one bowl straight, then ate four more bowls with rice! Other soups were decent — ox bone soup needed extra salt. IMO the basic tier is enough — especially during happy hour, that’d be a solid deal. #USA #LifeInTheUS #InternationalStudent #StudentEats #ColumbusEats #OhioFood
