Rice One | The Dabney🌟

đŸ„‚ Ambiance: Both the environment and the dishes embrace a homey, pastoral style, adhering to the farm-to-table concept. It might be very fancy for foreigners, but for someone with farming in their bones, isn’t this just how food should be presented? Shouldn’t dishes be freshly picked from the farm? The most eye-catching feature is the big fireplace; yeah, it’s also quite warm sitting next to it. đŸ„Č Dishes: ❶ Appetizers Melon: Just a regular cantaloupe with sesame seeds, I mean, can’t I have this at home? Maryland Crab Cake: The best appetizer, rich in layers. Farm Cucumber with Scallops: So ordinary, I could make it taste like this myself. Pickled Metompkin Bay Oysters: Tastes of the sea, a hit with those who like the natural flavors. Aged Chesapeake Bay Rockfish: It’s impressive how they managed to make this fish taste so fishy. Grilled Cornbread: A pitch-black iron plate grilled cornbread, can we please master the fire control before serving this? The burnt taste is really strong. 28-Day Dry-Aged Autumn Pork Loin: A piece the size of a thumb is not as generous as what Bresca serves. ❷ Main Courses Wagyu Ribeye Cover, Grilled Over Charcoal: A strange combination of braised flavor with BBQ sauce. Braised Beef Tongue with Pumpkin: The taste is okay, but it’s overall quite greasy, maybe not drained well? Farm Roasted Eggplant: 🙄 ❞ Desserts are overall very sour, but okay. Sweet Alma Figs Garner’s Melon Sorbet Peach Ice Cream đŸ’â€â™‚ïž Service: The whole meal left no impression; the dishes are very ordinary, and I don’t understand why it’s a “Rice One” restaurant. No birthday surprise, just a candle lit 😑. Other non-Michelin restaurants know to give something small for birthdays to make people happy, but this place is really dull. The cornbread (personally, I think burnt food shouldn’t be served, and I questioned it, but they said this is how it’s supposed to be, wow! Great grilling skills! Shouldn’t it be golden and crispy?) And then there’s the mandatory tip, oh well!
