đRockport, MA
đRockport, MA | Colorful Memories of Fishing Harbors & Film Photography đ¸ Tucked away in the northeastern corner of Massachusetts, Rockport isnât just a townâitâs a tiny fishing village that feels like a portal to New Englandâs olden days. đ´ó §ó ˘ó Ľó Žó §ó ż Wander along its harbor, and youâll be surrounded by weathered wooden docks, small fishing boats bobbing gently in the water, and the faint smell of salt mingling with fresh seafood from nearby shacks. The pace here is slow, the air is crisp, and every corner feels like a scene pulled from a vintage postcardâtotal nostalgia in the best way! And then thereâs Motif #1âthe bright red little house perched right by the harbor thatâs basically Rockportâs heart and soul. â¤ď¸ This tiny building isnât just cute; itâs famous across the country as the âMost Painted Building in Americaâ! Way back when, it was just a humble shed where fishermen stored their nets, ropes, and toolsâplain and simple, built for work. But over time, artists and photographers (myself included! đ) couldnât resist its charm: that bold red against the blue sky and ocean, the way sunlight hits its weathered wood, the little details that tell stories of the townâs fishing history. Itâs like a natural focal pointâno matter where you stand, it draws your eye, and you just have to capture it. I mustâve taken a dozen photos of it aloneâeach one felt like a new way to see its magic! This time, I shot everything on Kodakâs E100VS positive filmâand let me gush about this roll for a second! đď¸ The âVSâ stands for âVivid Saturation,â and let me tell you, it lives up to that name 100%. It cranks up the saturation and contrast to just the right levelâno fake, over-the-top hues, just rich, vibrant colors that make the scene pop. The sky here? A deep, clear blue that looks like itâs glowing. The ocean? Shades of turquoise and navy that shift with the waves. Even the green grass along the harbor edges feels brighter, like itâs been dipped in fresh pigment. It turns ordinary moments into something almost dreamlikeâexactly why I love film so much! And get this: this roll expired back in 2014! 𤯠I was nervous when I loaded itâworried the colors would be faded, or thereâd be weird spots, or it would totally (color cast). But to my surprise, it held up perfectly! No weird discoloration, no loss of sharpness, just that classic E100VS pop I was hoping for. Iâve still got a few rolls of the final-edition 120 format stashed awayâtheyâre like little treasures now. Iâm already planning my next trip (maybe to a quiet lake or a small mountain town?) to shoot themâcurious if theyâll be just as good! đ Thereâs something special about capturing a town like Rockport on film. Digital photos are quick and convenient, but film? It makes you slow down. You think about each shotâhow the light will hit, how the colors will translate, what story you want to tell. And when you finally get the prints back? Itâs like holding a piece of that day in your handsâfaded just a little, but full of feeling. Rockportâs charm is in its quiet, timeless beauty, and E100VS didnât just capture thatâit amplified it. These photos arenât just pictures; theyâre color memories Iâll keep coming back to. #MyPhotographyDiary#Photography#Film#FilmPhotography#TheUniqueColorOfEveryTown#TravelAndPhotography
