Rockport – A Coastal Town Near Boston
Rockport – A Coastal Town Near Boston | Healing a Disappointment 🌊 I failed an interview. The reason was as expected, but I’d rarely been this excited about a job before. Even before knowing the result, I clung to the fantasy—“Man makes his own fate, right? What if…?” When everything was finalized, disappointment was inevitable. But luckily, the weather was great, so I decided to go out for a walk. 🚗 About Rockport: An Easy-to-Reach Coastal Haven Rockport is a coastal town northeast of Boston. It’s about a 1-hour drive away, and you can also get there via the Purple Line you sigh, perfect for weekend strolls or, like me, needing a place to clear your head~ 🏖️ 📍 Must-Visit Spots: Small but Wonderful Surprises 1. Motif #1 – The “Camera-Friendly” Little Red House Walk toward the commercial street, and you’ll spot this small house by the pier. Honestly, it’s not that eye-catching in person—just a plain red hut—but once you frame it in a photo, it’s like it’s wearing a filter! It looks great in every shot—turns out “being photogenic” applies to houses too~ 📸 Standing next to it, feeling the pier’s breeze, my worries seemed to fade a little. 2. Bearskin Neck– A Quiet Weekday Commercial Street Since it was a weekday, there weren’t many people, which made wandering even more relaxing. The street is lined with jewelry stores, art galleries, vintage shops… The much-recommended 🍦The Ice Cream Store is actually tiny—smaller than the shops next to it, but brighter in color. It was already closed when we arrived, sitting quietly by the road like a kid among adults~ 😂 3. The Rocky Path – A “Rock Stacking Challenge” by the Sea At the end of the commercial street, there’s a path made of rocks that stretches into the ocean. Small stones along the way are stacked into little cairns—everyone seems to be having a “competition” with strangers who’ve been here before, seeing who can stack the rocks higher~ 🪨 I couldn’t help but join in; even though my stack wasn’t tall, those few minutes of focusing on the stones made my disappointment feel lighter. At the end of the path, you’re greeted by an endless view of the sea and sailboats docked nearby—so calming. 4. Front Beach – Pink Sunsets Heal Everything In the evening, the horizon where the sea meets the sky turns soft pink. Houses in the distance become the only bright spots in the sunset glow. There were only a few people on the beach, all in a relaxed mood. This tiny beach was surprisingly photogenic~ 🌇 Sitting there watching the sunset, I thought, “It’s not that big of a deal.” Tomorrow is a new day. 🦞 Food Recommendation: The Lobster Pool For dinner, we chose a slightly out-of-the-way spot called The Lobster Pool—and true to its name, you’re greeted by a tank of live lobsters as soon as you walk in! We ordered 1 1/2 LB lobsters, Fish + Chips, and a bowl of Clam Chowder—everything was amazing~ ✅ 1 1/2 LB Lobsters: The meat was thick, crispy, and sweet with a salty seafood flavor—every bite tasted like the ocean~ 🦞 ✅ Clam Chowder: A must-have with lobster! Rich but not greasy, with plenty of clam meat—definitely a solid choice~ 🫕 ✅ Fish + Chips: The fries were thick, crispy on the outside and soft inside—dipped in ketchup, they were so satisfying~ 🍟 The restaurant is right by the sea, so you can enjoy fresh lobster while looking at the ocean—great vibe! But the dining area is outdoors, so the tables and chairs are a bit dirty, and other facilities (like the 🚽) are simple. It didn’t bother me, but it’s worth noting if you’re particular. Watching the sunset sink below the horizon while eating delicious food, I suddenly realized the failed interview wasn’t that scary. Sometimes, changing your environment and looking at beautiful scenery can make worries shrink. Thank you, Rockport, for the healing~ 💖 #SceneryOnTheTrip#BostonDayTrips#LifeInNorthAmerica#DaysOffWork#Beach
