Roma | Perspective and Baroque Gallery
Palazzo Spada A quintessential Italian Late Renaissance and Baroque architectural marvel, Palazzo Spada was initially commissioned in the mid-16th century by Cardinal Giacomo Capranica. Later, it was purchased by Cardinal Orazio Spada and underwent extensive renovations by architect Francesco Borromini, making it one of the prime examples of Baroque architecture. 🏛️ Its most famous architectural feature is the Perspective Gallery (Galleria Prospettica) designed by Borromini. Although the gallery is only about 8.8 meters long, it appears to be over 30 meters deep due to the clever use of receding columns and perspective tricks. A statue at the end of the gallery enhances the illusion of depth, making it a classic of Baroque architectural visual art. 🎨 🎫 Standard Ticket: €6 🎓 Italian Art Academy Students: Free (with valid student ID) 🎨 EU Citizens aged 18-25: €3 (with valid student ID) ⏰ Opening Hours: Closed on Tuesdays; Open Monday to Sunday, 8:30-19:30 #ClassicalArchitecture #Rome #Italy #Spada #EuropeTravel #HighAesthetics #TravelRecommendation #Baroque
