Rome｜Bracciano, the Lakeside Town

One of Italy’s eight volcanic lakes, Lago di Bracciano (Lake Bracciano), is located nearby. 🌋 This lake was formed by volcanic activity and also serves as a reservoir providing drinking water for Rome. In the heart of the town stands a beautifully preserved medieval castle 🏯—Castello Orsini-Odescalchi. Built in the 15th century, this castle combines the functions of military defense and noble residence. Now, it’s open to the public as a castle museum, showcasing art from the reigns of popes and kings. You can buy a ticket to fully experience the grandeur of the medieval nobility inside the castle. When buying a ticket, just choose Bracciano Station. I took a train from Termini and had to transfer, but if you depart from S.Pietro Station near the Vatican, it’s a direct route.
