✨Villa d'Este is a renowned garden in Tivoli, a small city on the outskirts of Rome, Italy, famous for its fountains and terraced hillsides during the Renaissance period. This garden is situated on undulating terrain and was the location of the ancient Roman Emperor Hadrian's villa, which has been supplied with aqueducts since the classical period. ✨In the late 16th century, the local bishop Ippolito Este hired architect Pirro Ligorio to renovate the garden into multiple tiers following the natural slope of the hill. He diverted nearly half of the local aqueduct's water volume, using the natural water pressure from the elevation difference to arrange over 500 fountains of various sizes within the garden. These fountains create a spectacular sight, with the main reservoir and the Fountain of the Organ as the iconic landmarks. ✨In addition to the fountains, Villa d'Este also features a large number of stone sculptures to decorate the garden, which were relocated from the ruins of Hadrian's villa.
