Rome Food | Double Satisfaction from Carbs & Cheese
📍 Rome | Mariuccia 🔺 A Super Popular Southern Italian-Style Restaurant 🍝🍕 One evening in Rome, we visited this highly-rated Italian restaurant online—apparently, Chinese actress Zhong Chuxi has also dined here. It specializes in Southern Italian flavors, especially pizza and handmade pasta. Reservation is recommended—otherwise, you’ll have to wait in a long line on-site. When we arrived, the entrance was packed with people! We were so glad we’d made a reservation and could be seated right away. We ordered three dishes, each with its own unique charm: 🥗 Bufala e Prosciutto (Burrata with Prosciutto) It’s perfect as an appetizer! The burrata is a huge ball—rich in milk flavor but not greasy. Paired with Italian prosciutto and arugula, it’s very refreshing. The savory taste of the meat and the creamy milk flavor blend perfectly; one bite instantly awakens your taste buds~ 🍕 Pizza Diavola (Spicy Salami Pizza) This is a Neapolitan-style pizza. Its crust is puffy with air pockets, like the "edge of a volcano," and super chewy. The center is topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, and spicy salami (though I couldn’t taste the spiciness). It’s so fragrant that it’s addictive! Unlike heavy American-style pizza, its base is thin—crisp, soft, and stringy with cheese. The tomato flavor is strong, and while the toppings are simple, every bite hits the spot 🌶️. 🍝 Pasta Amatriciana (Tomato & Bacon Pasta) The pasta is thick, handmade, and very chewy—not undercooked (authentic Italian pasta is usually al dente, but this one is more well-done, making it easier to enjoy). The sauce is made with tomato, pecorino romano (sheep’s milk cheese), and bacon. As soon as the pasta was served, we could smell the subtle, savory "funk" of pecorino—it was incredibly aromatic! The bacon in the pasta was also delicious, tasting a bit like Chinese preserved sausage. The two of us (girls) finished two main courses entirely—we were stuffed but still wanted more, even tempted to lick the sauce clean! 💰 We didn’t order main meats or wine, so the total was only €46—quite affordable. However, individual dishes are already reasonably priced; if you order a full meal normally, the average cost is around €30 per person. #ItalianCuisine #Rome #RomeFood #Italy #ItalianGastronomy #Pasta #IrresistibleForeignFood #Spaghetti
