📍Flour Atelier | San Diego, CA This place was sooo popular when it first opened! 🔥 Every time I saw it online, I was tempted to visit. Finally had the chance to drop by the other day and grabbed some of their popular items to try ~ Here’s what I got: 🍵 Matcha Yuzu Cupcake 🍓 Strawberry Cupcake 🍠 Ube Mille Feuille 🧈 Cream Mille Feuille All four came to around $25 💵, which is pretty standard for the area. Overall, I thought everything was pretty good! 👌 But here’s the important part — you’ve gotta eat them the same day!! ‼️ I tried storing some in the fridge overnight, and the texture really wasn’t the same — the pastry got soft, and the cupcakes lost their springiness 😢. Their Mille Feuille is really special～ The cream on top is light and not too sweet, and the layers are super crispy — you can really hear that crunch with every bite! There’s no filling inside, which makes it feel pure and simple — all about that pastry and cream combo ✨. The cupcakes were interesting too — the texture kind of reminded me of… Chinese fa gao? 🤣 It’s dense but still bouncy, very Asian-inspired! The cream was again excellent — not heavy or overly sweet. The matcha flavor was a bit light — I would’ve loved a stronger tea taste — but the strawberry one was fresh and perfectly balanced 🍓. Oh, and a special mention — they decorate their desserts with real flowers! 💐 It looks so elegant and pretty. These would make such a nice gift — definitely Instagram-worthy 🎁.
