Seafood Platter and Lobster Roll at Water Grill

Seattle Western Cuisine Overall impression: The seafood lacks multi-layered seasoning and creativity. The service is great; they even provide hot towels with lemon to wipe your hands and remove the fishy smell after the meal. However, as a diner, I can understand why this place has fallen from its Michelin status. It’s a real pity that the Honeymoon dish was sold out today, and I couldn’t try it. 🦪 Iced Shellfish Platter - $60 We ordered the grand platter, which was just right for two people. The oysters came in three varieties: Kumamoto, Spindrift, and Discovery Bay. The Spindrift was soft but slightly fishy. The other two were quite refreshing. It was my first time trying raw wild littleneck clams; they had a more chewy and crispy texture than oysters. The highlight was the scallops, which came with pistachio and citrus garlic sauce. The orange’s acidity really brought out the sweetness. The mussels were boiled in onion water. There were also Mexican wild brown shrimp and lobster, but they were quite tasteless. Even the snails lacked flavor and were bland. It was up to us to experiment with the sauce for seasoning. šŸ£ Bluefin Toro Tartare - $28 After exploring the combinations of the seafood platter, we started to make our own hand rolls. The toro tartare was seasoned with quail egg and sweet soy sauce, which was decent but nothing special. We didn’t master the proportions on our own. We ran out of nori, but there was still a lot of sushi rice left. šŸ™ Wild Spanish Octopus - $26 The fresh and delicate octopus tentacles had a slight smoky flavor. It was served with charcoal-grilled potatoes, olives, and roasted tomatoes underneath. Normally, fresh ingredients are quite delicious when slightly seared or grilled, but the suction cup part was too heavily salted, making it overly salty. Thankfully, the bread served before the meal was delicious and could be paired with it. šŸ¦ž New England Lobster Roll - $38 In the traditional Connecticut style, the lobster roll was generous and substantial. The bread was a bit greasy and paired with fries, which was a bit heavy. #Seattle #SeattleSurroundings #SeattleFoodExploration #SeattleLife #SeattleFood #SeattleWeekend #SeattleDaily #SeattleDelicious #SeattleDelicious #SeattleWesternCuisine #SeattleSeafood #Bellevue #BellevueFood
