Seattle Restaurant Recommendation
I had the Peking duck at Peony last year and thought it was pretty good for a more Americanized new Chinese restaurant. But this second visit really surprised me with a few dishes. First, I want to rant about the neighboring Monsoon. We went with seven people without a reservation and there were no seats. But the attitude of the receptionist who handles reservations was just too bad, with a cold face throughout. Thumbs down. ππΎ Now, onto the main event~ Spicy Rice Cake and Crab Stir Fry ππππππ A must-order! Promise me if you go to Peony, youβll get this dish! The flavors here arenβt spicy, so even though this dish is called spicy, itβs actually not spicy at all, haha. Friends who canβt handle spice can order without worry! The soul of this dish, I think, is the rice cakes, which are super flavorful and aromatic, chewy and deliciousββ Smoked Chicken πππππ The skin is crispy and so tasty! Another must-order at Peony! The chicken inside is not dry at all! The flavor is just right, not too salty or bland! The aroma is also spot on. Cold Noodles πππππ The cold noodles were a surprise hit at this place. I thought Iβd just try it out, but it turned out to be unexpectedly delicious! Itβs better than the cold noodles at many authentic Chinese restaurantsβΌοΈ The rest were pretty average. The Spicy Boiled Fish passed the bar, the fish was tender, but there were really no highlights, and it wasnβt spicy enough. The only dish I think is not worth ordering, and even a bit of a letdown, is the Five-Color Buns. π£π£π£ The buns come in cheese, mushroom, seafood, original, and BBQ flavors. Itβs more of a gimmick and not as good as regular buns π€¦π»ββοΈ Thick skin, little filling, a big no-no for buns βοΈπ«β. #SeattleFood #Bellevue #SeattleRestaurants #BellevueFood #SeattleLife #SeattleFoodExploration #MyFoodDiary
