Seattle Asian Art Museum
šItās too hot, I donāt want to go anywhere. This morning, my husband and I went out for a walk before the temperature rose. Iāve never been to Volunteer Park before. šThe Seattle Asian Art Museum has an exhibition thatās about to end, so we came to check it out. This red, lantern-like sculpture is called the āBuddhist Bug.ā The orange-red color symbolizes a monkās robe and is the artistās exploration of the organic integration and impact of faith and surrounding society. I donāt really get it, but I think it looks pretty. šI also saw many exquisite artifacts from various Asian regions. Iāve seen many exhibitions in China, but the experience is always different abroad. šSeeing the solitary Buddha heads on display, I feel sad, thinking they should be complete in temples and caves back home. The Shang Dynasty bronzes make me feel proud; while Westerners were playing with mud, our ancestors were already crafting beautiful bronze vessels. The Tang Dynasty funerary objects are fascinating. Back home, I often see equestrian teams and musical figures. Here, thereās a merchant with a beard and a hooked nose riding a large horse. Itās the first time Iāve truly experienced the charm and vast territory of the Tang Dynasty. šThe most amazing part is how foreigners like to display artifacts from different Asian countries together, allowing you to see the artistic expression and craftsmanship of the same item from different Asian perspectives during the same period. #SeattleSurroundings #WashingtonState
