Seattle should really have a Kurt Cobain-themed city walk map! 👣
🍁 Took over 20,000 steps today—literally every step made me think of Kurt. November in Seattle is so beautiful too... Ran into a few homeless people and odd characters, but it was alright... Viretta Park & House: 🏠 The first and only house Kurt Cobain ever owned. ☔️ It was here on April 5, 1994, that he ended everything... 🎬 Just like in Sleepless in Seattle, where they say it rains nine months a year here—Kurt left on a rainy day. Visiting Kurt 31 years later, I’m so lucky it was sunny. Hope Kurt never has to be in the rain in heaven. Linda’s Tavern : 🥃 A bar Kurt often visited. It’s said to be one of the last places he was seen in April 1994 before he went missing. Re-Bar: 🎈 In 1991, DGC Records held a celebration party for Nirvana’s Nevermind album release. The three of them didn’t really care about the event—they partied so hard they got kicked out. The place is now called Keys On Main~ KEXP 90.3FM: 📻 The station’s predecessor, KCMU, was the first to play songs from Bleach. In 1988, Kurt himself brought a demo of Love Buzz to the station. KEXP has since moved to a new location—gotta check it out next time! Central Saloon: 🎫 On April 16, 1988, Nirvana played their first Seattle show here. It was also where their connection with Sub Pop Records began. This place is often called the birthplace of grunge 🤘. Moore Theater: 🎫 On June 9, 1989, Nirvana performed here as part of Sub Pop’s Lame Fest. Terminal Sales Building: 💿 The former headquarters of Sub Pop Records was located on the top floor. Kurt must have visited here, right? The Crocodile: 🎫 On October 4, 1992, during Nirvana’s peak, they performed under the pseudonym Pen Cap Chew as the mystery opener for Mudhoney. Back then, the venue (opened in 1991) was called Crocodile Cafe (aka The Croc). Screwdriver Bar: 🎸 From 1988 to 1990, this was Nirvana’s rehearsal spot. Known as a utopia for rock music, the bar is super low-key—its facade only has a painted 🪛 (screwdriver). The Edgewater Hotel: 🏨 In August 1993, Nirvana gave an interview here. The hotel really likes Oasis, haha. Good thing they didn’t play Guns N’ Roses! [I’m a huge R fan] #KurtCobain #Nirvana #GrungeMusic #Pilgrimage
