Shunde-Style Rice Congee Hot Pot & Rongbian Ribs Are Finally in LA! ๐ฒ
๐ Shunde Hotpot 18009 Gale Ave, City of Industry, CA 91748 As a Shunde native, I rushed over as soon as I heard โ and the owner is also from Shunde! We bonded instantly, and she generously walked us through the menu like family. ๐ The Congee Base is LEGIT Made by slow-cooking a blend of rice varieties until it blooms โ silky, smooth, and fragrant. I loved it so much, I took an extra portion home ๐ (Chat with the owner โ she might just hook you up!) ๐ Congee Hot Pot Set (~$20+) Comes with a plate of tender, farm-fresh chicken โ not frozen, not supermarket bland. You can taste the quality. ๐ฎ Red Bean Double-Layer Milk Pudding Creamy, lightly sweetened, and served chilled. Not exactly like the Shunde original (no water buffalo milk here ๐), but made using traditional methods โ still a delightful treat. ๐ Rongbian Ribs Funny enough, Iโd never tried these in Shunde โ my first time was here in the US! Theyโre dry-fried, savory, and deeply flavorful. Already planning to recreate these at home! ๐ Pro Tip at the Sauce Bar Go for the honeydew โ super sweet! The watermelon was just okay. Eating here brought back so many memories โ and a touch of homesickness. Itโs hard to fully recreate Shunde flavors abroad, but this place comes close with heart and technique. Canโt wait to go back and taste more of home ๐ฅน #ShundeHotpot #RiceCongeeHotPot #CantoneseFood #LAEats #ComfortFood #HomesickEats
