Mexican food in Southern California is truly the best, and now that we no longer live there, we miss it like crazy! That’s why dining at Don Carlos during our vacation was such a treat – we ate there twice in five days and loved every minute! 🥳🇲🇽 Day 1: We ordered the Sunrise Burrito and Nachos. The Sunrise Burrito completely won my husband over! 🥓🍳🧀 Scrambled eggs, ham, bacon, cheese, and French fries – how could you go wrong? Topped with that incredible green salsa – it was pure heaven! 🌅 My nachos were generous and looked beautiful, but sadly fell a bit flat. The chips were soaked in red ranch sauce – a bit too much for my taste. I’d expected green sauce, but that was my fault for not reading the menu closely. 😅 The service was super warm and friendly – we swore we’d be back! 💖 Day 2: We tried the Pearl St. Burrito and a Breakfast Chile Relleno. The Pearl St. Burrito was tasty, but my husband still preferred the Sunrise. 🌯 My chile relleno was good but needed a bit more kick 🌶️ – it was stuffed with egg, cheese, and veggies but just didn’t have the zing I was hoping for. The tortillas, though – absolute perfection! Soft, classic, just like the authentic flour tortillas we grew up with. 👵🌽 Overall, this place is fantastic and we’ll definitely return.
