South Carolina’s Capital | One of America’s “Most Boring Cities”?
Nah!!! Actually, downtown has plenty to explore! Here are a few spots I recommend for anyone passing through—hope they help! South Carolina State House The state capitol in downtown is totally worth a visit: Walking beside this palace-like building, the sun filters through the columns and window sills, creating a beautiful play of light and shadow that looks as unreal as an oil painting 🎨. Come in the evening—when the building glows in the sunset, the light and shadow blend perfectly, and the royal-like vibe makes it super easy to snap great photos 🫴. I saw lots of people taking wedding photos 👰 and graduation photos 🎓 here, and I thought, “Yep, this spot was a great call!” 🍑 Pro Tips: ✅ Arrive during the golden hour in the evening (check the sunset time for the day in advance). ✅ Wear dark-colored or printed clothes—they’ll make your photos look more elegant. ✅ Bring a camera or tripod for stable, high-quality shots! This Catholic church has a European vintage feel and a unique architectural style—plus, the front yard is filled with blooming hydrangeas 🌼. Every casual snap turns out amazing! Address: 1529 Assembly St, Columbia, SC 29201 City Murals Walking along the streets of downtown Columbia, you’ll see all sorts of fun murals ✍️. One of them is especially unique—it showcases the city’s spirit and energy. Don’t miss it if you pass by! The mural has a “female gaze” that feels comforting and reassuring—it even made me more confident posing for photos 😜. I accidentally took tons of shots, and I love every single one!
