Southern France Feast: 100 Oysters Eaten—and This Marseille Spot
Marseille truly stands out when it comes to oysters—cheaper than Paris, plumper than Montpellier, and with more varieties than Sète. We went all in: Gillardeau, Pearl Oysters, Fines de Claire… 100 oysters per person, and we didn’t hold back!💕 Why This Marseille Spot? Location says it all—just check the map. But what really wows is the combination of quality, variety, and price. This isn’t some fancy seafood palace; it’s a no-frills joint where you can slurp oysters by the dozen without breaking the bank.😂 Oyster Breakdown (Prices & Picks) Gillardeau No. 5 (Smallest): €28 for 12. That’s just ¥16 each! Plump, rich, and satisfying—classic Gillardeau goodness.🤣 Gillardeau No. 2 (Largest): €45 for 12 (about ¥30 each). The shop skips No. 1, as they say it’s not worth the markup—smart move. These are huge, but wait—there’s something even better.💕 White Pearl Oysters: Tiny in size, but explosively sweet. Better than Gillardeau, in our book—and cheaper than the smallest Gillardeau, at ¥12 each! Rarely seen , so load up while you’re in France. Perfect for oyster purists who want to savor the natural flavor without wine.😂 Fines de Claire: Two sizes, both around ¥16 each. Saltier than the first two, with a texture that balances Gillardeau’s plumpness and White Pearl’s delicacy. A solid all-rounder.😊 Pairing Perfection Oysters demand a crisp white wine to elevate the experience, and while this spot is more about quick, delicious indulgence than wine pairings, it’s the ideal place to satisfy those oyster cravings. We washed ours down with a chilled local white—bright, zesty, and the perfect match for the briny-sweet bivalves.👍 Goal Achieved: 100 Oysters per Person in France!😊 Eating 100 oysters in one trip might sound ambitious, but in Marseille, it’s almost too easy. This spot made it joyful—no fuss, just fresh, flavorful oysters that showcase why southern France is a seafood lover’s paradise.😊 If you’re an oyster fan, add this to your Marseille list. Trust us—you’ll be coming back for seconds (and thirds). #MarseilleSeafood #OysterFeast #SouthernFranceEats #FrenchSeafood #OysterLovers
