Step into Van Gogh’s Paintings This Summer! 🖼️🌻
Last year, after seeing the special exhibition at the Met, I made a silent vow—to follow Van Gogh’s footsteps from Arles to Saint-Rémy, where light and shadow dance in harmony. Irises, olive trees, the yellow house, and sun-drenched cafés—fields of golden sunflowers stretch endlessly under the Provençal sky. Life burns as fiercely as the summer wind through open windows. The overgrown town gardens, dappled with sunlight, whisper tales of time. Artists don’t just paint landscapes—they capture the soul of a place. What they see is what they feel, a mirage of the heart. I missed Arles by night, but Starry Night Over the Rhône made up for it. Thanks to the "Van Gogh and the Stars" exhibition, this masterpiece returned to its birthplace after 136 years. The painting’s navy-blue sky, royal-blue river, and lilac earth shimmer under the Big Dipper’s green-pink glow—a lonely soul’s yearning for the cosmos. ✨ Van Gogh’s Footprints in Southern France 📍 Arles 1️⃣ Café Terrace at Night – Place du Forum (now Café Van Gogh) 2️⃣ Les Arènes d’Arles – The Roman Arena, still hosting bullfights today 🏟️ 3️⃣ The Courtyard of the Hospital at Arles – L’Espace Van Gogh, a tranquil garden where he recovered 4️⃣ Fondation Vincent Van Gogh Arles – Features Starry Night Over the Rhône in the "Stars and Van Gogh" exhibition 5️⃣ Langlois Bridge – Painted nine times in 1888, now called "Van Gogh’s Bridge" 🌉 📍 Saint-Rémy Saint Paul de Mausole Monastery – The asylum where Van Gogh stayed after cutting off his ear. Here, he painted The Starry Night, Wheatfield with Cypresses, and irises in full bloom. Walking through the olive groves and lavender fields, you’ll see the landscapes that inspired his most turbulent yet luminous works. 💔 The crude medical facilities here are heartbreaking—yet in this harsh environment, he created 143 oil paintings and 100 drawings. Art was his only solace. 🚶 Saint-Rémy offers 19 scenic walking trails, perfect for families. 📸 July = Les Rencontres d’Arles Photography Festival – The whole town becomes an open-air gallery, with LV pop-up cafés and stunning photo ops!
