Stinky Tofu, Meat Soup, and Shaved Ice—A Surprising Combo! 😄
This little spot in Rockville, MD—Taipei Cafe—has a ton of snacks on the menu! We tried their stinky tofu and meat soup, and both were super tasty. Rumor has it they’re pretty authentic! 🇹🇼 🧆 Stinky Tofu The texture was super delicate—crispy on the outside, chewy inside, served with pickled cabbage. Really well done! 🍲 Meat Soup This was my first time trying meat soup—it’s like a lighter, tangier version of hot and sour soup. With a vinegar kick, shredded meat, and mushrooms, it was super fragrant and appetizing! 🦪 Oyster Omelette This one came with ketchup—not sure if that’s how it’s done in Taiwan (the one I had in Gulangyu didn’t have it), but it was still pretty good! They also added spinach, which felt kinda healthy 😂 🥬 Yu Choy with Shacha Beef Lots of greens but plenty of beef too—simple but satisfying! 🍧 Shaved Ice You get to pick three toppings—we went with red bean, taro, and grass jelly. The taro was amazing! 🍠 Sadly, they were a bit stingy with it, so we got some yellow jelly as extra. The grass jelly was a bit tough though, and the ice wasn’t super fine—but it’s huge and affordable, so still a win! 📍 Taipei Cafe 802 Hungerford Dr, Rockville, MD 20850 Have you been to a Taiwanese spot in the DMV that does stinky tofu right?
