Suisse Majestic, Autograph Collection in Montreux

After years in Switzerland, I finally got the chance to visit this legendary hotel standing proudly by Lake Montreux. Stepping out of the train station, this historic building—first constructed in 1870—greets visitors with graceful poise. A witness to the lifestyle aesthetics of the Belle Époque era, this architectural treasure was acquired by a German hotel group in 2019 and joined the Autograph Collection, now continuing its story with a charming blend of old and new ✨ Entering the lobby, the grand view of Lake Geneva unfolds like a giant scroll through the floor-to-ceiling glass walls. Since our room wasn’t quite ready, the front desk thoughtfully offered a drink voucher. A cup of warm tea paired with the lake and mountain scenery turned the afternoon into a poetic moment 🍵 We stayed in a deluxe lake-view room on the top floor. Though the space felt a bit compact, the full-length floor-to-ceiling windows framed the stunning views of the Alps and Lake Geneva perfectly. The interior, with lake-blue soft furnishings—from cushions to armchairs—contrasts beautifully with white furniture, as if extending the outside scenery indoors. At dusk, the setting sun dyes the lake golden-red; where water meets sky, it’s like flowing gold, taking your breath away 🌇 Room service was a bit slow, but turndown service maintained a standard level: the bed was neatly made, slippers placed meticulously, and Swiss-style chocolates added a warm touch to the night 🍫 Breakfast wasn’t included, but the breakfast options in the welcome amenities showed surprisingly good quality. The semi-buffet breakfast is a rarity in a 4-star hotel. The buffet selection is limited, but the combination of Swiss specialty cheeses, cold cuts, and fresh milk has distinct local flavors. The only downside is that staff don’t proactively offer the à la carte menu—guests have to ask to know about the available egg dishes 🥚 Notably, the Montreux transport card provided by the hotel is convenient for exploring this lakeside town. It doesn’t cover intercity transport, but it’s sufficient for local tours 🚌 After a night’s stay, while there’s room for improvement in hardware facilities and service details, the advantageous location and unparalleled lake views make it an ideal place to stay in Montreux.
