The Best Korean Food in Portland
As soon as I walked in, the staff greeted me in Korean—they even thought I was Korean! Right after seating me, they handed me a cup of warm tea 🫖, which feels so rare to find in the US these days. The TV in the restaurant was playing Korean mukbang shows 📺, instantly making me feel like I’d stepped into a little spot in Korea. I ordered their Stew Tofu, and when it was served, it was steaming hot 🔥—the rich aroma of Korean gochujang (red pepper paste) wafted up right away, making my mouth water. The soft tofu melted in my mouth, and it paired perfectly with the silky, runny poached egg 🥚 and tender pieces of meat 🥩; every spoonful had a mix of savory, slightly spicy, and hearty flavors, creating such a wonderful layer of tastes. I ate it with a bowl of purple rice 🍚—the nutty texture of the rice balanced the bold stew, and each bite warmed me up from the inside out, leaving me totally satisfied. The restaurant’s vibe is just like a cozy Korean street eatery 🛖—the decor is simple but welcoming, and the staff are super warm and attentive. They checked in on me a few times to make sure the food was good, and their smiles made the whole meal feel even nicer. It was easily one of the best Korean dining experiences I’ve had in a while!
