The Fried Chicken Is Better Than the Ramen! đđ„
The fried chicken turned out to be the real surprise here! đ€€ While sorting through photos, I started drooling againâdidnât capture it well, but each bite was juicy and flavorful, marinated perfectly and served with a tangy yuzu mayo dip. Absolutely killer! đ The chicken is freshly fried and comes out piping hotâa generous mid-sized bowl. Since the ramen takes a bit longer, this is the perfect snack to munch on while waiting. This time we tried two ramen flavors: đ âą Spicy Tonkotsu: Looks fiery red but isnât spicy at allâdidnât really elevate the flavor, honestly a bit disappointing. Tastes good, but tonkotsu + chili oil makes it quite heavyâgets rich quickly. Maybe better with a beer or soda? đș âą Classic Shoyu: Much lighter but complexâlayers of soy sauce, chicken broth, and dashi flavors. The umami lingers nicelyâI preferred this over the tonkotsu! âą Toppings: The bamboo shoots were juicy and great as always đ; each bowl comes with two slices of chashu, torched before serving for a smoky touchâtender and so tasty you wonât want it to end! We arrived 15 minutes before opening on a Wednesdayâtwo people were already in line. Within 20 minutes of opening, the place was full. If you plan to visit, definitely plan aheadâwalk-ins rarely work! đ Gotta admire Menya Hosakiâs chill vibeâjust the owner and the ramen chef running the whole show, handling frying, boiling, and serving without rushing đ Wait times can be long when youâre hungry, but this little spot has loyal fans for a reason. In an era of quick profits, taking ramen seriously really pays off. đČđ« What do you think of their ramen? On my third visit, Iâm trying the tan tan noodles for sure! đŹđ #TonightsDinner #DMVFoodFinds #WashingtonDCEats #DMVEats #StudentEats #GlobalFoodies #RamenHeaven #100RestaurantChallenge #FoodInspo #DCGuide
