The Last Autumn on Campus 🍂

Two weeks ago, the campus still clung stubbornly to its late-summer greenery. Then one morning, as if someone had quietly turned a color wheel, the entire campus erupted in gilded brilliance under the dawn light—ginkgo trees showering golden coins, maples bursting into crimson flames, even the ivy on stone walls taking on sunset hues. 🍂 The Great Autumn Transformation Oct 28 The sycamores before Lauinger Library remained steadfastly green Nov 3 Suddenly discovered the pathway to Healy Hall carpeted with ginkgo leaves Nov 7 The maple outside my dorm began its red-to-yellow gradient performance Nov 11 The cold front arrived, the golden dynasty bowing out amid wind and rain The most magical was that Monday, Nov 14: over the weekend we were still soaking in the warm autumn taking leaf sketches, only to wake up Monday to icy window patterns and the familiar hum of dorm radiators. Autumn didn’t even grant us a transition—it switched directly to winter mode. 📸 Autumn Moments Frozen in Memory Catching falling plane leaves before Dahlgren Chapel’s red brick wall Watching the sunset dye the arches of Virginia Hall the color of honey Witnessing a ginkgo rainfall from the third-floor window of Lauinger Library while studying Those who claim DC has no distinct seasons must have missed Georgetown’s 72-hour golden spectacle. When last night’s wind swept away the last sycamore leaf, it struck me how this fleeting autumn mirrors our study abroad days—you think there’s plenty of time, but it ends in a blink. (This morning, trudging through frost to early class, I suddenly missed that crunchy leaf-covered path from two weeks ago.) #GeorgetownDiaries #DCSeasons #AutumnMemories #CampusTimeMachine #FromTshirtsToDownJackets
