The Light of Marseille 🌟🏛️
📍The Musée des Civilisations de l'Europe et de la Méditerranée (MUSEM) is located in the port of Marseille. I've heard a lot about it and finally had the chance to visit. 📍This museum was established in 2013, and time flies; it has been more than a decade. In 2013, Marseille was still the second-largest city in France and a famous center for immigration. The city was filled with violence and chaos, and the original intention of establishing this museum was to make this place more cultured. 📍Firstly, let's talk about the architecture. This modern building is connected to the Fort Saint-Jean and Eglise Saint Laurent through a simple steel structure bridge, which makes it more concentrated, more convenient for visitors, and offers better visual effects. 📍However, through my visit, I found that the museum is more positioned as an exhibition-led urban leisure center. Because the venue has a large construction area, but the exhibition area only occupies a small part, and the rest is used as offices, restaurants, conference centers, and so on. Walking from the Fort Saint-Jean into the museum and walking through the corridors inside the honeycomb exterior, the transparent glass windows are all offices, which made me feel like I was in an office building. 📍To my surprise, MUSEM, as a well-known museum in the industry, even without a rich and precious collection, can still tell a good story through innovative and creative curation methods, making the exhibition fun and visually appealing. This is a new approach that all other museums should learn from. The exhibitions are mostly planned from a humanities perspective, with many details and knowledge from various fields. I have to admire the curatorial team's knowledge base and effort. #ExhibitionVisit #Museum #France #Marseille #CulturalLandscapeSharing
