The Panathenaic Stadium in Athens during the scorching summer ๐
๐ The Panathenaic Stadium, also known as the Kallimarmaro, was the main stadium for the first modern Olympic Games in 1896 and is the only stadium in the world made of white marble. Even under the blazing sun, the marble seats donโt get too hot; they remain warm and perfectly comfortable to sit on. ๐ Located in the heart of Athens, the stadium was often used in ancient times to host the Panathenaic Games in honor of the goddess Athena. It was rebuilt in 1895 for the first modern Olympics. The torch handover ceremony for the 2008 Beijing Olympics was held here, and the flame for the 2024 Paris Olympics was handed over here on April 26th. ๐ From a distance, the entire stadium exudes a faint yellow hue, and the translucent marble shines brilliantly under the direct sunlight, making it particularly sacred and spectacular. The main entrance is on the north side, where there is a podium, and the other three sides are all stands. At the highest point of the south stand, there is a huge Olympic rings symbol hanging. ๐ Entry to the stadium requires a ticket, which can be purchased at the ticket office to the northwest of the main entrance. The regular admission is 10 euros per person, and the student ticket is 5 euros per person. We bought student tickets; although we had our student IDs, the staff didnโt check them. However, itโs still recommended to bring your student ID just in case~ #PanathenaicStadium #Panathenaic #AthensTravelGuide #Olympics #Olympic #CulturalLandmarks #Snapshot #CityStroll #EuropeanTravel #Athens #GreeceAthens #AthensTravel #Greece #GreekTravel #Travel #Share #Guide #RecordNow #ootd #Photography #Photo #Fujifilm #SavingTips
