💫 The Romance of East LA – James Turrell Skyspace 💫

“Spend time facing light in nature.” ✨🌿 James Turrell Skyspace is a series of immersive art installations created by American artist James Turrell. At its heart is an enclosed room with a skylight—through this small opening to the sky, viewers experience wondrous shifts of light, color, and space as natural and artificial light intertwine. 🌘🔵 🚩 330 N College Ave, Claremont, CA 91711 United States 🤜🏼 Sitting there, listening to the sound of flowing water, gazing up at the sky, and waiting for sunset… it’s truly romantic and healing. 🧘♀️💧 💰 Unlike the one in Beijing’s The Temple Hotel, this Skyspace is located on the campus of Pomona College—and it’s completely FREE! 🆓🎓 Parking is easy nearby since it’s in a college area. ⏰ The experience begins 10 minutes before sunset and lasts 35–42 minutes; for sunrise, it starts 50–58 minutes before and continues until 10–15 minutes after sunrise. 🌅⏳ 🌟 Tips: If you’re mosquito-prone, avoid sitting near the trees. 🦟🚫 Bring a small camping pillow—no one minds if you lie on the ground or on a bench! 😴🛌 Last year it was often crowded, with everyone lying wherever they could. Lately, it’s been much quieter—guess everyone’s busy these days. 😂 P.S. Chino Hills just got a new “Chi Cha San Chen” (a bubble tea spot) with NO LINES! 🧋🥳 Grab a drink, bring a friend, chat under the sky—pure bliss! 💬💖 🏫 By the way, Pomona College is another one of my hidden gems. The campus is incredibly, incredibly decent—feels like an elite private school from the East Coast. 🏛️🌴 At first, I thought it was just a community college or a typical public school (since the Pomona area isn’t fancy), but a quick search told me: it’s actually one of the top liberal arts colleges in the U.S.! 🎓🌟 Since I live in Chino Hills, sometimes after work I’ll have dinner, visit the Skyspace, and then take a stroll around campus. 🚶♀️🌙 Whenever I need to study or read, I just try a building door—if it’s locked, students passing by are always happy to let me in. Everyone there has such good vibes, haha. 😄👨🎓 Tonight’s Skyspace was especially beautiful—totally worth a post! 📸💙 #JamesTurrell #LosAngeles #LA #Exhibition #ArtInstallation #Skyspace #LightArt #FreeInLA #PomonaCollege #Claremont #MeditativeArt #SunsetViewing #PublicArt #CaliforniaArt #BubbleTeaAndArt #ChinoHills #CampusVibes #HealingSpaces
