James Turrell Skyspace — Attraction in Claremont

Wonderful experience. Arrived 110min before sunrise as the website says, but the show itself didn’t start until a few minutes into Nautical Twilight (our viewing was on Monday April 10th, start times likely vary across the year) - so in the future I would come based on that instead, but I’m glad to have not missed the beginning. Probably sat for an hour before anything happened though.

Exactly one old website I think says it runs Sat-Mon, but I think that was a decade ago. It likely runs every day now. Would love to know for sure though.

The colors were gorgeous. Turrell’s work lived up to expectations. Wonderful time, probably best for folks that like an art piece “exploring the Thingness of light”. Definitely hope to come back for the evening show sometime, but worth seeing once. Like other articles have said, lying on the ground and looking up gave the best experience.

Other notes: no public bathrooms nearby in the morning at least that we saw, just one behind a locked door in the plaza for students. Parking on N College and walking over was great. Granite benches are cold, and tile floor is hard,...
