The Spring Limited Edition of Van Gogh’s Town, Arles
In the south of France, there’s a small city renowned far and wide, second only to Paris in its influence on contemporary art and culture in France. This is Arles, known as the "City of Van Gogh". Over a hundred years ago, Van Gogh spent just over a year creating art here, producing more than 300 works during this period—reaching the peak of his artistic career. 🌟 He also invited Paul Gauguin, another giant of French Post-Impressionism, to paint here. Though the two lived together in Arles for only two months, their constant quarrels led to a dramatic and unresolved ending in art history. Yet, they bestowed upon this small town an eternal brilliance, making Arles a spiritual home of modern art. 🎨 Masterpieces like The Arena, Starry Night Over the Rhône, Café Terrace at Night, The Garden of the Hospital in Arles, The Yellow House, Self-Portrait, The Bedroom in Arles, and Sunflowers all have their original scenes well-preserved in this town. Early in the morning, the streets are quiet, with few passersby and shops still closed. The Saturday market outside the old town steals all the bustle, leaving plenty of space for exploration. The streets of Arles are filled with a vibrant artistic atmosphere. The grand and majestic architecture intertwines with the town’s glorious past, rushing toward you under the abundant yet crisp spring sunlight. ☀️ 📍 Arles If you’re not staying in Arles, you can also base yourself in Marseille or Avignon—just a 20-minute 🚉 train ride away. The train station is right by the Rhône River, and it’s only a five-minute walk to the entrance of the old town. Outside the ancient walls, the LUMA Contemporary Art Center offers a rooftop view of Arles’ panorama and the Provençal countryside. The staff mentioned that if you visit in summer, you can see vast fields of sunflowers and lavender! 🌻💜 #SouthOfFrance #FrenchRiviera #ProvenceVibes #Arles #ArlesStory #VanGogh #Sunflowers #ArtLovers
