The Tranquil Luxury of Washington D.C.'s InterContinental ✨
Memoirs of Stays - Hotel Diaries • MoS · DC · IHG 🏨 InterContinental Washington D.C. - The Wharf 🏷️ Platinum + Ambassador 📷 Fujifilm XT20 ©️ All images are copyrighted by the author. - There are two InterContinentals in D.C.—one classic and复古ly luxurious, the other modern and elegant. This time, I experienced the new riverside location. The thoughtful, professional service began even before entering the hotel—staff greeted and opened doors late into the night. 💫 A simple chat during booking secured a great suite days before arrival—perhaps due to low season, but it showed their generosity. A small incident highlighted their efficiency: I found used slippers in the closet (likely a housekeeping oversight). Not seeking compensation, I just mentioned it at the front desk. That evening, the manager proactively offered an 80 credit and breakfast at Dockside. 🍳☕ The à la carte breakfast was excellent—steak & eggs worth 39—essentially a complimentary meal for two! The Water Suite glowed under D.C.’s clear winter light. Sitting by the window, I felt immersed in the shimmering Potomac River—a moment of pure peace. 🏞️ The layout was smart: balanced space between the living room, bathroom, and bedroom. Nautical-themed art added local charm. The seasonal rooftop pool/bar was closed (winter), but it wasn’t missed. The lobby’s warm apple cider with optional cinnamon and dried fruits was a cozy touch. ❤️🎄 Located in The Wharf, a vibrant riverside area perfect for strolls. Dining options abound—from Shake Shack and Gordon Ramsay Fish & Chips 🐟🍟 to hotspots like Hell’s Kitchen. I’d recommend Gordon Ramsay’s fish & chips: quick, tasty, and great value! 👍 Have you stayed at an InterContinental that left a lasting impression? What’s your favorite hotel with a view?
