There is a kind of (awe) called Niagara Falls...
When I was studying in upstate New York, I’d always wanted to visit Niagara Falls, which straddles the U.S.-Canada border.🍉 🌴But for various reasons, I was stuck in the countryside during my first semester. My first trip there didn’t happen until spring break two years ago—in April. 👍👍 By then, the ice hadn’t melted yet, and the boats weren’t running, so all we saw was a huge iceberg. We also learned about how Nikola Tesla harnessed the power of Niagara Falls to light up the entire city of Buffalo.😍😍 ☘️That’s why I made a point to check out Buffalo, only to realize: not every city is worth visiting, and Buffalo is definitely one of them. This time, I picked a summer to visit the Canadian side of Niagara Falls.💞💞 I have to say, the Canadian side not only boasts better scenery and friendlier people, but also better urban planning and tourism arrangements. It made me feel like my last trip was a waste.🍦🍦 You can walk along the trails next to the falls 24/7 for an up-close view. 👀👀 👉👈👉👈While feeling the mist from the falls, the sightseeing boats become the "finishing touch" in the landscape. Every night, there are said to be fireworks and light shows.🌵🌵 🏛️You can also go up to the observation tower for a panoramic view of the falls: the American Falls on the left and the Horseshoe Falls on the right. Set against the vast, flat plains around them, they’re truly spectacular, like a natural "moat." The tower uses wire mesh instead of glass, so you can clearly hear the roar of the falls—it’s incredibly🎉🎉 🍏There’s also a path behind the falls, which was probably once a channel for generators. There’s an observation deck there that gets you super close to the falls. The mist hits you right in the face—if you’d brought shampoo, you could practically wash your hair.😶😶 👣👣Finally, you have to take a boat to see the falls up close—otherwise, it’s like you never came. The boat will take you past the American Falls and then into the heart of the Horseshoe Falls. The water roars, and the raincoat won’t help—you’ll definitely get soaked, but it’s so worth it!🌳 🏡For accommodation, there are many falls-view hotels nearby. You don’t necessarily need a room with a window; you can go to the hotel’s observation restaurant in the morning. When the mist is lit up by the light, it’s absolutely stunning.🌵 🌈For ambitious photographers, Niagara Falls might be too touristy—you don’t see many photographers shooting it, and it’s hard to capture it in a fresh way.✨ 😶😶But for the travel experience itself, when you’re under the falls on that boat, with all your senses fully engaged, the is truly one-of-a-kind.🍟🍟 #NiagaraFalls#CornellUniversity#Canada
