This Hot Dog Made Me Feel Like I Posed with the President! 🎩🌭
❤️️ In the U.S., every city or region has its own signature hot dog—and D.C.’s classic is the CHILI DOG! It’s topped with Mexican-style meat sauce, fresh chopped onions, and melted cheese ❤️️ 💙 If you want to try an authentic and unique chili dog in D.C., you’ve gotta visit this spot 💙 🌭 Ben's Chili Bowl 🌭 📍 1213 U St NW, Washington, DC ⭐ A Little History: Opened in 1958 🗓️, the owner is now in her 90s and still going strong—she often chats with customers and is absolutely adorable 🥰. This place is a favorite among politicians, celebrities, and even presidents—the walls are covered with photos of famous visitors. It’s also President Obama’s favorite hot dog joint! ⭐ ⭐ The Space: The restaurant is big with plenty of seating and is very kid-friendly 👶 (kids can order a plain hot dog without chili). ⭐ What We Ordered: 🔸 Half Smokes & Dogs 🔸 ✅ Of course we got the classic chili dog! It might not look fancy—honestly, it’s a bit messy—but the taste brings back that nostalgic comfort 🥹 ✅ The hot dog has a crispy snap, the meat is savory (a bit salty), and the chili is bold and hearty. ✅ The bun is soft, and the fries are delicious too 🍟! ⭐ A Sweet Moment: When we were leaving, we chatted with the lovely elderly owner. Hearing we were from Hong Kong 🇭🇰, she got excited, grabbed her phone, and took a selfie with us! So I guess we’ve indirectly taken a photo with Obama now too 😉📸 🌈 Highly recommend! 🌈 #WashingtonDCFood #WashingtonDC #DCEats #DCFood #WashingtonDCGuide #DCWithKids #ThingsToDoInDC #FoodieMap #HiddenGemEats #IconicEatery #ChiliDog #HistoricEats #ObamaApproved #DCLandmarks #ComfortFood #LocalFavorite #MustTryDC
