Travel Diary: Yangon, Myanmar 🇲🇲
📍 Accommodation Hood Hotel (Hostel) – 30,000 MMK/night, includes breakfast. Shared bathrooms, lively bar downstairs, supermarket nearby. Friendly young staff, close to bus stops. 📍 Attractions 1️⃣ Shwedagon Pagoda Entry: 20,000 MMK (includes free water). Tips: Remove shoes before entering. Perfect for spending a whole day—sketching under the trees (saw a foreigner drawing!). Wear sunglasses—the gold glare is blinding at noon! Dress modestly (no shorts, tank tops, or short skirts). 2️⃣ Circular Train Adventure Ticket: 600 MMK (round trip, I think?). Meant to take the scenic loop but ended up on a random train—had to buy a return ticket from the last stop! Vibes: Doors wide open like Sri Lanka’s trains, great for photos. Bought cheap, delicious mangoes onboard . Note: Armed police in every carriage, but everyone was friendly. Funny moment: A vendor scolded us for making "serious faces" in photos—we just smiled blankly until she left. 😅 3️⃣ Local Markets Skipped museums, wandered aimlessly through streets packed with food stalls, fruit vendors, and flower sellers (all within 3km of the hostel). Ideal for soaking up local life! 4️⃣ Sule Pagoda Downtown hub surrounded by malls and bus stops. Airport buses depart from here (see "Transport" below). 📍 Food 🍜 Noodle 737 – Near Chinatown. Friend-recommended, melt-in-your-mouth pork rib noodles. Most meals were spontaneous—just followed crowds into busy eateries! Share your finds in the comments! 📍 Souvenirs 🛍️ Myanhouse Local Made – Pricey for Myanmar but cute fridge magnets (Pic 8). Last-stop gift shopping! 📍 Transport 1️⃣ City Travel: Grab (cash only). 2️⃣ To Bagan: 29,400 MMK via "JI Express" (near train station). Overnight bus with rest stops (cheap food, don’t overhydrate!). 3️⃣ To Airport: From Sule Station, take "Airport" bus (or routes 115, 116, 36). 400 MMK, but allow 2-3 hours—it drops you at a roundabout (final leg via Grab). ⚠️ Prices above were accurate at the time—check for updates! #OffTheBeatenPath #Yangon #MyanmarTravel #TravelMemories #Wanderlust
