Trip to Corning Museum of Glass — Where We Stayed & Ate 🏨🍜
During our holiday trip to Niagara Falls, we took a detour to visit the Corning Museum of Glass in New York — and it was totally worth it! Here’s the lowdown on our stay and food experience: 🏨 Accommodation: We booked Econo Lodge Painted Post based on someone’s recommendation, but honestly — I wouldn’t recommend it. Here’s why: 💸 Hidden Fees: The listed price was around $106 per night, but we were charged an extra $58+ for “Tax Recovery Charges & Service Fees” — which supposedly included “resort fees, cleaning fees, and other fees.” Seriously… resort fees? This is just an old budget motel 🏚️. The AC and room decor clearly showed its age. 🍳 Breakfast Was… Basic: If you’re expecting a hearty breakfast, look elsewhere. Their offering was super simple: yogurt, milk, waffle mix, cereal, and hard-boiled eggs. I tried one of the eggs and it tasted… off 😬. Even a Chinese couple we overheard kept saying, “There’s really nothing to eat here!” 🥲 🍽️ Food Options: Around the museum, you’ll mostly find fast-food chains like McDonald’s and KFC. But the real surprise was… 🍜 The Museum’s Own Café! ☕ We loved the soup noodles (they have a few different broths), warm soups, and even the fried chicken and fries here! 🍗🍟 Heads up: If you go too late in the afternoon, the noodles might be sold out. We missed them on the first day but tried them the next day when we picked up our DIY glass piece — and they were delicious! 👍 📌 Final Tips: Look for newer hotels if you prefer comfort and no surprise fees. Eat inside the museum — it’s better than most nearby options! Make your glass object early so you can pick it up the next day and have those noodles 😉 #CorningMuseumOfGlass #TravelTips #WhereToEatCorning #BudgetTravel #NYTravel #MuseumCafe #HiddenFees #HotelReview #FamilyTravel
