U.S. Travel Diary 🇺🇸 | Little Rock – Way Sweeter Than Expected!
After my experience in Memphis, I expected Little Rock to be super dangerous and rundown too, but it totally wasn’t! 🍃 Though we happened to run into heavy rain for a few days — at one point, the downpour was so intense on the highway that I could barely see the road. I really thought we might get stranded. When we arrived, Little Rock felt quiet, green, and incredibly fresh after the rain. So clean! Compared to Memphis, it has a few more high-rises — not many, but it looks more modern. Most buildings are still red brick and a bit old though. The next morning, we headed downtown early (no rain!) to the Little Rock River Market. It wasn’t open yet, so we just took a look from outside. Then we went to the two bridges and took tons of photos 📸. Up close, they were pretty but not exactly breathtaking. I’d recommend the Gateway Bridge Walking Biking Trail for nice bridge photos! There were Canadian geese in the riverside park — one almost chased me 😅. The river is the Arkansas River; not sure if it was because of the weather, but the water level was low and the color was kinda grayish-yellow. It was so chilly that I decided to buy a jacket. Scarlet is highly recommended! It’s like a curated boutique — the owner has great taste and they carry several well-known brands. I couldn’t leave empty-handed! For lunch, we ate at Three Fold Noodles + Dumpling Co. | Pleasant Ridge. I liked it better than the downtown location — huge portions of beef, fewer people, and they even serve coffee! Overall, Little Rock felt more affluent and less sketchy. Driving along the winding hilly roads surrounded by tall trees was really charming. The wealthy neighborhoods felt cozy and stylish, with some beautifully designed (and probably expensive) houses. Honestly, the city was quiet and kind of sweet. Mostly white residents, and it had this unique vibe that’s hard to put into words. #AmericanStudent #LifeInTheUS #MyStudyAbroadLife #TravelUSA #LittleRock
