Udatsu LA | Needs Polish for That Michelin Star 🌟

My friend had been wanting to try Udatsu together for a while, but with so many reservations back-to-back, we kept pushing it off. Finally made it here—and I’ve got thoughts. The Tokyo and Hong Kong locations both hold one Michelin star, but if I’m honest, the LA version feels like it’s leaning on reputation rather than rising to the occasion. Not terrible, but not memorable either.😊 We booked the 8 PM seating (second round). They started with a 30-minute “drink time” — actual omakase began around 8:30 PM. Then… it dragged. We didn’t get our first bite until 9 PM. 🕘 If you book the later seating, eat a snack beforehand!💕 Highlights ✨ The spot prawn was perfectly cooked and layered over raw shrimp – a textural explosion! Sweet, delicate, well-executed. Uni two-ways – Santa Barbara + Hokkaido. Luxurious, though the flavors blended a bit too much. Hard to tell which was which. Chawanmushi was lovely, silky and flavorful. A few nigiri pieces stood out with fish selections I genuinely enjoyed.🎶 Final Take Worth experiencing once, but I’m not rushing back. It’s quiet, intimate—good for a date night. But for a Michelin-level experience? They’ve got some refining to do. #UdatsuLA #Omakase #SushiReview #LAFoodDiary #MichelinWannabe #DateNightEats #UniLovers #FoodieImpression #NotThereYet
