🍜 Umami Ramen & Dumpling Bar – A Mixed Bowl of Feelings
After Ramen Kid and Morris Ramen closed, I’ve been searching for a decent ramen spot in Madison… Does Umami make the cut? Here’s the tea (or broth 🍵): 🍲 Tonkotsu Ramen ⭐⭐ The noodles tasted like classic Chinese egg noodles – thin and springy, but the broth was lighter than expected. Chashu was tender, but overall lacked depth. 🍲 Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen ⭐⭐ My friend’s order – I tried the broth. Chicken flavor was there but very faint. Pretty average. 🍡 Coffee Mochi Basic mochi drizzled with chocolate sauce – nothing special. “I could make this at home” vibes. 🍵 Matcha Crème Brûlée ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The star of the meal! 🙌 Finally – a dessert where you can actually taste the matcha! It was smooth, not too sweet, and had a nice caramelized top. Could be stronger for matcha lovers, but still very good. 🍹 Cocktails: It’s Purple ⭐⭐⭐: Sweet upfront, limey aftertaste – like a diluted margarita. White Ice ❄️: Tasted like slightly sweetened water… my friend said “floral sugar water” 💧 Hanami Blossom ⭐: “Diluted pink lemonade with a hint of soap” – my friend’s words, not mine 😂 📍 Umami Ramen & Dumpling Bar 923 Williamson St, Madison, WI 53703 Verdict: Maybe skip the ramen, but come for the matcha crème brûlée and patio vibes! 🌸 #Madison #UmamiRamen #RamenReview #MatchaDessert #MixedReviews #FoodieMadison
