Umiya Sushi AYCE Review: A Solid Pre-Black Friday Fuel-Up in DMV 🍣
Shopping is a marathon, not a sprint — especially on Black Friday. So we fueled up first at Umiya Sushi in Alexandria. After trying several all-you-can-eat spots in the area, I’d say this one lands firmly in the reliable-and-reasonable category, offering a better experience than places like Sushi Oishi. 📋 Menu Tip: Go Classic The Classic menu is more than enough for most people — under $50 per person after tax and tip. It includes sashimi, nigiri, rolls, hot appetizers, and more. The Premium menu costs noticeably more and isn’t really worth it unless you strongly want limited servings of uni, lobster, or wagyu. 🍽️ What We Tried Portions are no joke The fried chicken arrived as a full appetizer plate, not just a few pieces. A nearby table’s unagi rice bowl was also huge. → Pro tip: Skip heavy dishes and rice bowls if you want to focus on raw fish. Hot bar highlights Besides the made-to-order menu, there’s a small buffet section. The mussels were plump and fresh. Surprise standout: The steamed egg (chawanmushi) was smooth and flavorful, loaded with mushrooms and imitation crab. The crab legs looked small and tricky, so I passed. Sushi quality Fish was fresh, rice well seasoned — perfectly solid for the price range. 🎉 Vibe & Logistics Heads-up for introverts: They celebrate birthdays Haidilao-style — with glowing signs, loud singing, and a procession. We witnessed two during our lunch! 🎤 Parking: There’s a small lot (P1) right outside and another (P2) around the block. If both are full, you might park in the nearby plaza (tolerated on busy days, but not recommended normally). 📍 3000 Duke St, Alexandria, VA 22314 Final Take Umiya is a dependable, good-value AYCE spot — great for group meals, family lunches, or pre-shopping fuel. Don’t expect omakase-level fish, but for a satisfying, no-surprises sushi feast, it delivers. #DMVEats #DMVFood #SushiAllYouCanEat #AlexandriaVA #NorthernVA #BlackFridayEats #AYCESushi #FoodReview
