US Texas Travel Food Edition: What to Eat in Houston & Dallas

⭐️Ming Kee: Craving congee, I found this highly-rated restaurant with many recommendations for seafood congee and the cured meat platter. The space is small, with only five or six tables, and it's known for having a wait, but when we visited on a weekday, it was quite empty. We ordered seafood congee, the cured meat platter, oyster cake (oyster omelette), and stir-fried beef with rice noodles. To be honest, it wasn't as amazing as the reviews suggested; there was a gap between the hype and the actual experience. However, the seafood congee did come in a generous portion. Bamboo Garden: Second visit to this hidden gem! Must-tries include the Spicy Blood Tofu, Steamed Pork Ribs with Rice Flour, and a type of eggplant dish. You can order blindly without any misses! Dallas😋 📍Mariam Cocina Latino: A friend had recommended Mi Cocina, but since we were heading to the Art Museum and it wasn't on the way, we chose this nearby Mexican restaurant. From the entrance to the interior and every dish's presentation, it's all very photogenic—high-end, aesthetically pleasing Mexican cuisine! The place is adorned with flowers and greenery both inside and out; in such an atmosphere, what you eat almost becomes secondary. We ordered a few dishes based on the waiter's suggestions. Honestly, they all tasted quite similar—various combinations of beans, rice, tacos, avocado, and different sauces. It made for a lively table, and the environment and overall experience were top-notch! 📍Heim Barbecue on the River: This BBQ restaurant is located in Fort Worth, specifically in the Stockyards area. Since the BBQ place inside the Stockyards is quite popular and we were concerned about it being touristy, we specifically searched for this one outside the main area. The restaurant has an industrial-style architecture. The menu is quite simple, basically consisting of meat and sides, and it operates on a fast-food, self-service basis. It's not crowded, the dining environment is pleasant, and the meat is well-cooked and seasoned. Highly recommended! #DallasFood #HoustonFood #Dallas #Houston #DallasFoodExploration
