Visited the Cathedral of Saint Paul and the State Capitol in St. Paul
ππΈVisited the Cathedral of Saint Paul and the State Capitol in St. Paul, Minnesota π I've been living in Minnesota for over a month now, and recently I visited downtown St. Paul to check out the Cathedral of Saint Paul and the State Capitol. If you're into architecture, these are must-see spots! ποΈ ππΈ The Cathedral of Saint Paul is a Roman Catholic cathedral that opened in 1915. It's the third largest Catholic cathedral and the sixth largest church in the United States. ππΈThe cathedral was designed by the renowned French architect Emmanuel Louis Masqueray, who was also the chief architect for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. The cathedral features a unique copper dome that has oxidized over the years to form a distinctive green patina. Inside, you'll find beautiful icons, statues, and stained glass. π ππΈ Heading down John Ireland Blvd, you'll come across the Minnesota State Capitol. The capitol houses the Minnesota Senate, the Minnesota House of Representatives, the Office of the Attorney General, and the Office of the Governor. Additionally, the building is home to the Minnesota Supreme Court. The capitol's dome is the second largest self-supporting marble dome in the world, only surpassed by St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. ππΈ Inside, you'll find exquisite murals and sculptures. π¨ #StPaul #Minneapolis #Travel #Cathedral
