Washington, D.C. | The Roses in the Monastery Bloom Quietly

I discovered a different side of D.C., almost mistaking it for “Stanford.” This place is definitely one of D.C.'s hidden treasures! It’s a blend of a chapel, distinctive architecture, and a dreamy garden. Visiting at this time, the roses are in full bloom, and the monastery garden has its own endless summer. The roses open quietly, yet their fragrance is rich and enchanting! The perfect combination of roses and architecture is well worth a visit! I’m completely captivated~ 🎫 Free admission for self-guided tours, but pay attention to the opening hours. Official tours can be booked. 🌹 The entire monastery includes both indoor and outdoor areas, but it’s not tiring to walk around. You can easily explore on foot, stopping to appreciate and understand the beauty, and take some photos. Make sure to check the opening hours, and the visitor center has tour brochures. 🌹 A large area of roses is planted in the garden at the entrance of the monastery. As soon as you enter, you’re greeted with a intoxicating scent. Roses of different colors and varieties, occasionally you might even find a few peonies, lavender, and more, swaying in the breeze. The most distinctive feature is the combination of roses and architecture. 🌹 The main building can be visited independently, and by signing up for a tour, you can enter the underground crypt and the lower church with a guide. If you want to understand different faiths, historical stages, and styles, this place is really worth a visit. Every few steps, you can feel the stories and depth, with thoughtful arrangements and designs at every turn. 🌹 In addition to the garden at the entrance and the main building, a short walk “downhill” from the monastery leads to another peaceful area. There are underground crypts, but I didn’t go underground. 🌹 The monastery also organizes activities such as concerts. Objectively speaking, it’s a very rich and substantial place, and it’s great to visit as a tourist attraction. Other experiences are subjective. ⚠️ Some details need attention, such as no eating in the monastery chapel, personal photography is allowed but commercial photography is prohibited, etc. The monastery is like a secret realm, with its own world inside. While enjoying the natural scenery, you can learn a lot of stories. But for me, being able to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the garden and architecture is already wonderful enough~ #WashingtonDC #WashingtonDCArea #WashingtonDCWeekendActivities #WashingtonDCPhotography #WashingtonDCTravel #WashingtonDCTrip
