Washington, D.C. New Michelin Guide Restaurant Amparo Fondita
🌟Amparo Fondita Among the two new Michelin Guide recommended restaurants in DC for 24 years, both are Mexican cuisine. The other one was fully booked, so I made a reservation for this one instead. 🌟Amparo The dining environment is nice with warm tones as the main theme, and it was fully seated on a Tuesday night. We ordered two appetizers and two entrees. 🌟The two appetizers were a big letdown 🌩️ The glutinous rice chicken on the left and the rockfish on the right were hard to evaluate. The flavors were very complex, either tasteless or too salty. Both are from the special menu and not recommended!!! 🌟Both entrees could score 4/5. Tacos de Carne Asada are highly recommended; the steak was very tender, and the taco shell was elastic with a good chew. 🌟Aguachile de Callo was also good, with four scallops paired with a sauce similar to sesame paste in dan dan noodles. A very novel taste. 🌟The popular dish is Sopesitos, eight masa cakes with sauce, but it seems to be more photogenic than tasty. So, we didn’t order it. I really don’t understand what the Michelin Guide bases its ratings on. The environment is nice, but the food is just average. Overall, I’d give it a 6/10. Not a place I would visit again. #WashingtonDC #DCMichelin #WashingtonDCMichelinRestaurants #AtmosphericRestaurant
